At the age of 10, after auditioning at the Scapino Dance Academy, I was admitted and traveled from Purmerend to Amsterdam every day after school to take ballet lessons.
From preliminary training, I went to dance school at the age of 16.
I then went on to do the HBO dance teacher training program at the AHK.
The start of teaching was at a judo club in Landsmeer that also maintained a ballet department. This was followed by various ballet schools, elementary school and 14 years of working at the NKT theater school in Purmerend.
Through the diversity of workplaces, one thing has become very clear to me: no matter where you teach children grow and flourish through attention, cooperation, being stimulated by the material taught, continuity, expressing creativity and learning to dance with feeling within the material offered. Within ballet class, of course, there is also a piece of coaching learning to practice and persevere, watching and listening to each other, working on dances together and getting to know your body individually is part of this.
Learning to listen to music, recognize counting in the music and the feeling it brings to you are also all parts of ballet class.
Because I have devised an entirely new teaching method that is completely child and age-centered, children remain triggered and interested. Dance awakens something in all of us and is indispensable as a class alongside sports and school.

  • 2023-09 transition year collaboration with Chassé Dance Studios Children’s ballet classes on Saturday mornings and AHK Dance School 5 O’ Clock.
